What lies ahead.
Its officially the 2nd month of 2008. By now everyone should have settled in, we should be getting over the 'where did all my holidays go?' syndrome, and ready for more. I was one of the masses. I too found January tough to sink my teeth into. Like most, i was asking "what's next?" and "how do i better this year?".
Well, this is the thing. I wanna get involved do things with long-term impact. Now that we're married, i'm better able to focus my vision for the next few years. My heart still belongs to Brunei, my mind still instinctively wonders 'how will this benefit Brunei?', my strength comes from locally born and bred Brunei roots. But here's the thing. I live in Australia. My wife is Malaysian. She's a doctor, and she's right. It is best she specialises here before we consider sinking our roots back in.
So, i have about 3 years? 4, maybe 5 years left before we pack our bags one last time before heading home?
This is my question. What does Brunei need?
Let me help.

The Moment.
U2 ballads on about not being stuck in a moment. Man, the moment for me which i will remember for life is just before Carol Ann started playing. If you were watching me instead of peeking back for Gillian, you would have seen me break. Literally. You would have seen me turning away 1 last time to compose myself, or atleast try. I turned around, looking up at the ceilings as if there was help on the way, but the PA guy pressed the 'play' button for the CD player, and that was it.
I am sure you will come across a few pictures here and there of the moment my face 'broke', but man...these moments, unscripted, unintended, unforgettable...the moment my face reflected my heart...the moment of love.

rebuttal
Ahem, IN response to Gilliangel's post on Here, There + Everywhere, hear me out! I mean, on average, we Asian (i'm Eurasian actually - ahem!) men live on average up to 80 years? Varying figures, but i'm guessing, give another 10 - 20 years, there will be more cures on our shelves...so, likely, i hope to live up to 85? 90?

This means, i have ONLY about 60 years left on this place we call earth, and probably at most 40 more years of work life? THIS MEANS, my face has to last throughout. I mean, as much as we don't like to believe it, appearance does matter. So, yes yes yes. Laugh all you want, but i'll have the last one!

*grrrrrr*

keep the rabbits out
Every now and then at work, there will be a funny comic strip or picture put up by some joker. Its always in the staff room, on the notice board, up there, next to some OH&S or PD memo. One of the latest ones was a cartoon, with 7 short ladies in different poses, with the caption "7 dwarves of menopause". Heh.
Anyway, this was another one. Painfully true i admit.
This was another one. Man, i had a silly grin on my face all through the rest of the day. =)

Dress-Ups

I love dress-ups. I mean, give me a theme, time and place, and i'll do my best to play along. Let's see, so far, i've been a Pirate, a 70's geek, Kakashi (as per the picture + orange hair), a Pimp and, of course, in drag. There is just something about dressing up, like, being in costume - you assume temporarily the characteristics, antics + vocabulary. Its cool.
If you're out there, thinking of a party, throw a costume party. Here are some ideas...
Celebrity Challenge
MTV Idols
Cartoon Classics
TV Icons

girls
I'd love to do a blog just about girls. I'd go through this list:
- my previous attitudes about girls
- my current thoughts about girls
- my previous appreciation for girl-friend's
- my current appreciation for my forever girlfriend
I think its an interesting topic. I'll leave this blog to churn together properly 1st before publish something prematurely.
Any questions? I mean, heck - pretty soon my boys will be throwing me a stag night, so bring it!
